Setting up 3 Lane

We have 3 lane software in our warehouse, but we are only using 1 lane. How do we setup the other two for use?

It is really easy to set up additional lanes. You are going to want to start by the following:

1) Install the version of RMS you are running on the two machines 2) Note the database and connection info for lane 1 (the comp housing the db) To find the database info: Open SO Admin>

File>

Config>

Note your Password and Database name

To find your connection info from lane 1, either use the comp name or your ip address of the computer - note this.

3) "Build" the second lanes on lane 1: Lane 1>

Close SO POS (if open)>

Open SO Mgr>

Database>

Registers>

Register List>

Highlight Register 1>

Copy>

Create Register 2 using your naming convention (ours is simply Register number: = 2 Description: = Register #2) Click OK when finished>

Highlight Register 1 again>

Copy>

Create Register 3 using your naming convention>

Click OK when finished *** Note: Copying Register 1 will also copy all of the Receipt Printer settings, etc. These may need to be modified depending on the peripherals of each additional lanes Click OK again>

Close SO Manager

4) Configure lane 2 and 3 Open SO Admin>

File>

Configuration>

Server Name = either register #1 name or IP (as found in step 2) User name = see step 2 notes Password = see step 2 notes Database = see step 2 notes Connection timeout = see step 2 notes Click Test Database Connection>

Should be OK, if not, something is wrong with the connections Click Register tab>

Set Register number = 2 or 3 (depending on what you are working on) Click OK to save changes>

File>

Exit

Repeat above steps for register/lane 3

Once you have done all of the above, I would recommend opening POS on lane

1, then seeing if you can open POS on lane 2 and 3 without receiving an error. SO Mgr can be opened on unlimited lanes, it is only POS that is bound by the licensed users.

Good luck and post back if you have questions! Have a great day!!!

Well - you do all of the config in SO Admin, but you never really need to have it open or anything for general day to day user stuff. Once you have established that the registers are configured and connected properly in Admin, you will save your changes by clicking OK, and will never really need to open again (excluding scripting stuff, etc. - but I try to only script against the comp which the db resides).

Does this make sense?
