Quicken 2007 on Windows Vista

HOW did you try to uninstall Quicken? In Vista, click Start | Control Panel | Programs and Features, highlight Quicken 2007 and click Uninstall.

That should get rid of the old Quicken, but if it doesn't, all is not lost.

Just find the qw.exe file and delete it. (Better yet, just change the name; how about qwbak.exx? Any name that Quicken Setup won't recognize as Quicken's executable file.)

Then run Quicken Setup again.

HOW was it improper? Maybe that doesn't matter. The re-installation SHOULD cure any defect. It probably will use any leftovers from the prior install/uninstall, such as the desktop icon.

Have you tried the Repair operation? Maybe that will work and is all you need.

If this doesn't work, when you post back, please tell us, step by step, exactly HOW you are trying to uninstall and reinstall, and what results you see, including - verbatim - any error messages.

I'd recommend going to Intuit's site and running through their menus to the Support section. Then doing a search for Vista. Here's something from there that appears to meet your needs. But, you'll need to confirm it:

Right-click the install.exe file and select Run as Administrator. (If you are using a downloaded version of Quicken, locate the Quicken download file and right-click this file, and select Run as Administrator) If you receive a warning about unauthorized access, click Allow. 9. If you are prompted for your Administrator password, enter the password. If you did not establish an Administrator password when you installed Windows Vista, click Continue. 10. Follow the on-screen prompts to install Quicken. 11. When prompted to update the program during the installation process, click Update Now to install the latest updates.

Important Note: If the installation appears to stall, do not cancel the installation or End Task using the Windows Task Manager. Installation may take up to 2 hours to complete depending on the amount of RAM installed and other system configuration settings."
