I have Quicken Deluxe installed on Windows Vista Ultimate and all of a sudden I am unable to open Quicken and get an error message that "Quicken Launcher has stopped working". I spent a long time with chat help, installed qclean.exe and msizap.exe and ran quicken clean. I re-installed quicken and it opened but when I exited the program I got the "Quicken Launcher has stopped working" message again and was unable to reopen Quicken after that. After that I uninstalled Quicken and then went through the registry and pruned every reference to Quicken found. I then re-booted and reinstalled Quicken and I then immediately got the previous error message when trying to open. I think there may be a glitch in Windows Vista but do not know where. All is not lost since I am running Quicken under Windows 7 dual boot and using the same data files as in Vista and everything is fine. Anyone have any thoughts on this problem would be appreciated. TIA

What's the very last thing you did in Vista before the error occurred? It needn't have anything to do with Quicken but that's probably the cause of the problem. Anything you installed, added, ran?
Try a system restore to a time before the problem occurred and see if that helps.
I trued a number of things and finally gave up. I am convinced that it was a Vista problem so I did a clean reinstall of Vista and reinstalled Quicken, updated and it is running really well now. I went ahead and reinstalled some of my other apps such as Wordperfect and Office 2007 and now have problems running them in Vista. I am ready for Win7 since I have been running it in dual boot for several months with no problems with any apps. Wish I could have isolated the cause of Quicken not running but ran out of patience.

Just FYI, I had the same problem running Quicken 2009 under Windows 7 RC.

: Just to add to the discussion; I am running Windows XP and Quicken 2009 R7. I get the same problem, after I download from QuickenBillPay. The people at Quicken do not know any thing about the problem. The people at Quickenbillpay told me that it is a known problem with the software. They did not have a clue as to when it would be fixed. I have run validate and super validate both of which tell me that I have a good data base, but things still die if I try to download the bill payments from Quickenbillpay.

The solution is simple: don't download bill payments from Quickenbillpay--a known source of problems.
