40 column reciept + Extended Description

Hi Is it possible to get a 40 column receipt to print fairly long extended descriptions in a paragraph form underneath the line item barcode and standard description. Any clues to do this would be great.

Our terminals use OPOS to control the receipt printer

Hi Is the lack of reply indicative that this is impossible (or another bug)?

I don't believe there's anyway to do it using OPOS drivers. You would have to use windows drivers, and getting them to work right and be speedy can be a big challenge. All the OPOS drivers I've used truncate the text which prevents it from being printed on multiple lines like you want. If you use Star printers the windows drivers work great. If you use Epson printers forget it, they are best used with the OPOS drivers. Craig

The Windows drivers will work with Epsons, you just have to change the fonts to fix the slow printing issue. I do use Windows drivers with TM88 3's and

4's. I have never used the OPOS drivers, so I don't know if this works with them.

The tilde ( ~ ) in the receipt xml file is the truncate command. Look below in the ALIGNMENT command

Removing the tilde will work with windows drivers but it has no effect with the OPOS drivers. There is no way with OPOS to get the lines to wrap to the next line. It may be possible to get Epsons windows drivers to work but it is no easy task. I spent many hours working with my partner and discussing on this forum the different issues trying to fix the slow printing issue(among other things but speed was the main issue) and never could get it to work to my liking. I want the printer to be done by the time I hand the change to the customer and it just couldn't be done with windows drivers. We could get it working faster but not even close to the speed of the OPOS drivers. I decided I was more interested in speedy printing rather than having more control over receipt layout. Craig
