Ability to identify why an item is on sale

Our executives want to know how successful a particular sales promotion is, and may want to see the sales for all items which were on sale for a particular promotion. If we manually discount the item using a discount reason code, we can see that. However, often we will but a large batch of items on sale, and there may be overlapping sales on different groups of items. Having to remember what items are on sale at what price and apply the appropriate discount for each is not feasable.

This is why RMS has the the ability to assign Sale Prices to an item. However, there is no easy way to identify why an item was put on sale, and no easy way to go back months later and see a report of all items sold for a particular sales promotion.

When an item is put on sale (changing the sale price on the Items dialog or through a Store Ops wizard or HQ worksheet), it would be helpful to also have a small (25 character) description of the sales promotion (maybe it could be another sort of reason code). When an item is sold using a sale price, also write the promition code or description to the TransactionEntry table, in the same way that a discount reason code is written when selected by sale cashier.

We have a more advanced Promotion module that is date related, and gives analysis based on the Reason codes. Additionally this allows for grouping discounts by Department, Category, Items etc... and the discount can be on the total on th eline item or as a seprate NI Item deductions.
