allow credit limits to be raised "on-the-fly" with a password

Retail Management System Store Operations 1.2

The current method of dealing with customers who exceed their credit limit requires too much input.

Can a password system be imposed so that upon being informed at the tender screen that the customer exceeds their credit limit, a popup window would allow the transaction to proceed if a password is entered.

Currently, the transaction has to be stopped, the customer property card opened, the credit limit adjusted (if the cashier has rights) and then return to the transaction and process the tender again.

Thanks, Claude

And I thought we were the only business who gave credit haphazardly! :-)

Sorry to say I don't have a solution for you and since we go through the same procedure I would love to hear a better solution myself (short of some keyboard thingie with programmable keys).

One question. When you say you have to stop the transaction, what do you mean? At the end of our transaction, when we realize the customer wants to tender "on account" and the limit is not sufficient, we just open the properties and make the change, and continue the transaction where we left off. Is that your experience?

it is possible while in the POS, to have another user log in, in the middle of a transaction, by pressing the F9 key.

you could set up a new cashier, and assign a unique security level to the cashier id, then in the POS change the security settings to severely limit what can be done with this cashier id...for example if you want to, you could make it so all you can do with this cashier is change the customer credit limit.

once set up, i think you would have a fairly easy way to accomplish what you need. say you are in the middle of a transaction and realize the credit limit is not adequate. you press F9, log in under the new cashier id, make the change to the credit limit, then press F9 again and log back in under the other cashier id to continue the transaction

would this work for you?
