Block void transaction function

In RMS is there any way to block cashiers from being able to void transactions? It is not in the list of functions under cashier responsibilities.

Jeff,

You can't block the Void function but you do have a couple of options. First you can give the cashier a retun limit which will block them from doing a void over a certain dollar amout. Option two would be to block the Recall feature with using security levels.

How do you block the recall function? And does this prevent voids? When you do this I assume you can no longer use the hold function.

You could still put transactions on hold but just not recall them. Technically a Void could still happen if you knew how to do it but, most RMS users would never figure it out.

You have to give all the cashiers a security level, put the POS in security mode and then apply security to the recall button.

If you need more details give me a call.

Set up security for the system and you can block most of it out. Go to the help file & look it up, it is to detailed to review here.

If you block the F11 Recall button with security, yes, you will not be able to recall transactions on hold by using F11, but you could circumvent this by creating a custom POS button that executes the "recall on hold" function: Set it up in store ops manager - database - registers - custom buttons as

Assign a unique number in "number" Style = Internal Command caption = RECALL ON HOLD Command = RecallHold

Save it - make sure you type the command the way you see it here (capital R and capital H, one word)

This will add a custom pos button on the right side of the POS screen that will let you recall transactions on hold without having to use the F11 RECALL function.

There is an easy way to block the void in POS and still retain use of the Hold. While in Security Mode, press the recall F11 button, then click "Void a transaction" and press OK. Then set the permissions on the OK button in the "List Transactions" window (where the date fields are). You will effective block voids, as the cashier cannot proceed any further.
