I am a developer, and would like to build a vertical solution for MS POS. Where do I find out how this is done?
I can't find any info regarding enhancements for the software.

There will be a developer's kit, but it will only be available to Partners. If you are a partner you can get more information from your Account Manager.
The app is build in .NET with an MSDE back end. It isn't too difficult to start developing now without the kit.
