deleting cashiers/customers

What are RMS users doing to manage Cashiers or Global Customers when they want to delete them?

When we fire a Cashier I'd like to be able to remove their login from the Store Database but then it seems to delete all of that cashier's sales history. I'm assuming this is the same for Global Customers.

Is it possible to be able to delete a cashier's login but still retain a history of their sales?--or, can you delete a Global Customer and still run reports on their past purchases?

It's easy to manage Items this way since you can just make old unused items inactive. So, you don't have to delete them to get them out of your way and you still have their sales info. But there's no way i can see to make Customers inactive.

Is there an easy way to remove old Cashiers/Global Customers from the system but still be able to see their sales/purchases?

thanks, kamal

Instead of deleting the login, could you just change the properties for that cashier login so that they don't have access rights to do anything with the login? No admin rights or manager rights, you could even set up a unique security level and set up the security settings in POS so that security level cannot do anything at all. Or you could change the login's password so that only the Admin knows the password. I'm just curious why you want to completely delete the cashier's login, I presume so that people cannot log in under that cashier login and use it. Would any of the above alternatives be suitable?

Perhaps we should post a suggestion for Microsoft: we should be able to mark a cashier ( or a customer or supplier, sales rep, etc...) as inactive in Manager. And setting it up so that marking them as inactive removes them as a possible selection when you are choosing from a list.

these are good suggestions but i guess i want to avoid having to do all of this. i don't want the cashier list to have every cashier that may have worked at a store, it's just messy. but it's minor in cashiers compared to global customers. we use global customers to give out employee discounts. and we have a problem with employees still trying to get their discount after we fire them at different stores so it's best to delete them. yeah, i could leave them as a global customer and remove their discount but this is confusing to our managers to still have them in the system at all. i wish we could just nix them from the list altogether but not nix their purchase/sales histories (i.e. make them inactive).

Dear Microsoft....could this possibly be a feature in RMS v2? We'd love you for it.

I belie on the global customer tab there is a box that you can uncheck so RMS recognizes the customer but doesn't offer employee discount.

i realize this. i don't want to look at old employees anymore. i don't want them there so that managers don't have to look at them when ringing up employee discounts.
