I have noticed that some items (description, price, etc.) in the lookup screen are colored red and others black. I can't seem to find a reason why. Anyone know?

Not sure what you are looking at...
If you have set the option to use the Find Window for items, then the fields that match your search criteria will list in Red, but that's the only place I have seen alternate colors displayed.
