Disable buttons in the Touch Screen Keyboard

Nov 21, 2008 1 Replies

Hello,

I have been trying to disable some buttons in the touchscreen keyboard using the security feature but it seems like this is not possible. It sounds like it is possible in the help file, it even mentions disabling the "delete" button, but this is not so. When you click on the blank button to enable security mode,, then hit ctrl-s for the editable sections, it will not allow you to disable any of the buttons on the touchscreen keyboard. Am I missing something?

Without this functionality, it is impossible to use the touchscreen without giving cashiers access to every function. We do not want cashiers to be able to use the lookup key along with several others. We created a custom keyboard for the functions we DO want them to use, but anyone can go to the regular touchscreen keyboard since you cannot disable the Menu / Functions keys.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Do you run the security application on the POS?

It's not done in Manager, but rather POS.

It's those two "blank" buttons off to the left. Tap the lower one and a lock will appear, indicating that you are in security mode. Now use the mouse buttons as you do whilst in the Manager's security application.

Depending on how you have set up your security levels, you can disable access to any button on the touch screen.

If you search for my name in this forum, you may be able to find my post where I asked the same question, and got basically the answer I just gave you.
