Does anyone know of a Check Cashing Add On?

I am wondering if anyone has written, or is willing to write an add-on for check cashing? Basically in California, if a customer cashes more than 10K in a year, I have to be able to report that particular customer to the IRS. I need to have all of that customers info, such as Social Security, etc. Currently using RMS, I don't have to input all of that info. I am willing to pay for this add on, if someone can come up with what I need.

Vince,

Is this just for cashing checks and not for payment for purchases?

Yes Jeff, just check cashing. I cash a few checks...and I need some how a way to keep track of the customers who bring them in. The way I have been doing this is by the account number, if the drawer opens the check is more than likely good (have not had a problem in 1.5 years) and if it doesn't open, then don't cash. The employee checks ID, and rings in the amount to charge the customer for cashing the check. If there is an add-on that I can purchase, or someone can write, I am willing to pay for it, I think it would be worth it.

Vince.

I don't doubt what you are saying, but when did the State of California become an IRS reporting agency?

Is there somewhere I can read about this? Maybe the BOE website? Did a quick glance and couldn't find anything.

I've looked though my list of add-ons and haven't found anything yet. It does sound familiar though. If worse comes to worse, you can report on the check cashing charge ILC. Just use the same one for now. I would keep the SSN's on paper, under lock and key, until something is written/found for you.

I wonder how RMS is going to handle the storage of SSNs when they won't allow the storage of credit card numbers. With an SSN and birthdate, I can open any kind of charge account I want. Sounds awful risky to me. Wonder how is the State going to address that issue? ;-(

Jeff, this has not actually become law just yet. I think it goes into affect in a few months, at least that is what I was told. This is the reason there are so many different companies comming out with check cashing systems right now. Biopay is one of the major ones, but they are way over priced, I have found 2 other systems that are more than half the price of biopay. As a business who cashes checks I need to get a check cashers permit, and I have to file a bunch of things with different companies, so that we take down info if a person purchases a Money Order over a certain amount, or sends a Western Union over a certain amount, it's really strict right now. Not sure exactly where to look it up, I had a website but I don't recall what it is right now. Talk to you later bro.
