Fingerprint customer recognition.

Sep 22, 2010 4 Replies

Does anyone has a solution for recognizing customers using their fingerprint ? This could be a huge time and liability saver especially for items that require age verification. Once the customer is verified and entered in database all he has to do is scan his fingerprint, no fake id cards, no mistaken identity.

Robert, We have a Biometrics application that can be used to log in a cashier, and an Age Verification program that uses driver's licenses or state IDs to validate age. If you are interested in having some type of hybrid program created to suit your needs, drop me an email and we can discuss.

Thank you,

Hi. Your problem here is that no field in the customer table would be large enough, I think.

First I would buy a finger print scanner, and scan a finger print into notepad to see what you get. If it is small (which I doubt), you could possibly use the account number field and you are done. Most likely you will have to do an external com program, creating a button to call a program that asks for the scan and then does the lookup and gets the customer and puts him/her/it into the POS screen. If you need help with this, let me know. You probably need a decent RMS programmer to do this.
