have multiple item comments for individual items sold on an invoic

Question

it would be useful for our company if RMS had the ability to store more then one comment on an individual item on an invoice. right now you can add one comment to each individual item on a given invoice, and you can also set the properties in manager so that this comment is stored in the database (in the TransactionEntry table).

it would be nice if Microsoft expanded this to allow perhaps two or three comments possible per item, and be able to store all of these comments in the TransactionEntry table as well.

Sometimes there is information that needs to be stored for an item and the information is unique to that particular sale of that one item. For example, in our situation we have written an add-in that prompts the cashier to enter a cellphone number when a cellphone is sold in POS. The cellphone number is assigned to the phone at the time the phone is sold. we use the comment field to store this data, and i can think of other information we could store in a similar way for the same reasons.

Kevin,Have you thought about using a serial number field for the telephone number?Tell me more about your add-in, are you offering it to other resellers? Website to look at it?

Hi Jeff,Yes we did consider using one of the extra serial number fields for this however we decided it would not fit our needs as well.  We didn't want to have any one particular cell phone number permanently tied to a particular phone in the way that a serial number.  A phone's serial number will obviously never change, however in our case, we might sell a new phone to someone and program the phone to work with their cellphone number, then later they may return the phone to us for exchange.  Then we will sell the used phone to someone else and reprogram it to work with their cellphone number instead.  This way a phone in our system could have multiple phone numbers attached to it and we could report on it with the data stored in the transactionentry table.  However the phone number isn't permanently attached to the that particular serial number phone.  We want to avoid that if we can.Our customization is fairly elaborate and does a lot more than what i've mentioned here - If you want...
