Item Matricies

I am in the women's retail clothing industry and have a question regarding the item matrix setup in RMS.



Across various departments and categories, do I have to maintain the same item lookup code numbers for all dimensions of the matricies that I create?



For example:



Department - Coats // Category - Wool Item lookup code 1000 - Coats



1000-010101 = Coats - Small Red LongSleve
1000-020101 = Coats - Medium Red LongSleve
1000-030101 = Coats - Large Red LongSleve

Department - Pants // Category - Linen Item lookup code 900 - Pants



900-010101 = Coats - Small Green Basic
900-020101 = Coats - Medium Green Basic
900-030101 = Coats - Large Green Basic

Between matricies, the 2nd dimension changes but maintains the 01 coding will this get bounced somewhere down the line?

I don't exactly understand your question, but the only requirement for LookUpCodes is that they be unique, so as long as you never try to create another item with the "1000-010101" lookupcode you'll be OK. You would also have a problem if you tried to use an existing lookupcode as an Alias to another item, or ttried to use an existing alias as the lookupcode for a new item, but that's beyond the scope of your question I think.
