My company is planning to use RMS for their point-of-sale system, and will also be using the Headquarters software to tie multiple stores together. We are planning on creating a virtual store which will hook into the RMS system. It is critical for us to be able to view the inventory from multiple distinct RMS installations (each store is a separate business entity).
Our current shortlist of eCommerce software is Lagarde's StoreFront and NitroASL's rmsWebLinx. I've heard a lot about StoreFront, not all of it good. We would be purchasing the source code for it so we can customize it as necessary. However, there is some concern about StoreFront's (and New West Technology's RMS Web Integrator) ability to hook into the Headquarters software. I've heard a lot less about NitroASL (their US partner is POSitive Technology). The only success story I've read about is the Bike Stop case study. I don't know if this is a fairly new software product, or if it just doesn't have much exposure in the US, but I have not seen any commercial reviews or critiques of this product. Even my communication with POSitive just sends me back to the same press releases and Bike Stop site.
If anyone has any actual experience with either or both of these products, particularly in a multiple-store environment, I would appreciate your opinion. Unfortuanately, we have to make a decision on this fairly quickly (never enough time to do proper due dilligence), and right now we are leaning toward StoreFront strictly becuase of it's broader base of information. I'm not looking forward to months of customization, however, in either case.
