MSR

Hi. I have en encoder, I want to encode onto it a user id, eg 1. When I encode, the encoder puts a sentinel character atthe start and end of the code I am encoding, e.g. %1?, the % and ? are the sentinel(start and end) characters.

When I swipe this it appears as %1?, obviously I need it to swipe as 1. There is somewhere, and I cannot find it again, where we can tell the system to not recognise the start and end character as part of the code when swiping.

I cannot locate this in Administrator, Store Ops or OPOS. I did it about a year ago and cannot remember where.

Any ideas? Any help grately appreciated.

It's the reader that is adding those characters for you. How you make it stop is dependent on the make & model of the MSR - I would try the manufacturer's website. By the way, if you take those characters off, you won't be able to use that MSR for credit cards.

Glenn, thank you very much. I loaded the driver from the manufacturer and it worked fine.
