Net display screen

Oct 26, 2005 7 Replies

Hi all, When I log out of POS the Net Display defaults from the assigned left and top settings back to original settings so I have to adjust every time I open. I have posted this issue before and received the suggestion that I should log on as an administrator. I have done this and the issue remains.

Furthermore, I have had a look in the Registry files | POSUser | Display where I was surprised to find that my adjusted settings have populated and hold even when POS closed and Reg files refreshed. Yet on logout the settings default again.

So my second question to the ether is... Is the information (Maybe some kind of default info) stored in some other table or location? As in when the POS opens it is looking for these details rather than the registry. And can they be changed?

Again thanks for your time all,

No, the registry location you found is the only location those settings are stored in. No idea why they aren't being applied. Maybe the settings are just defaulting rather than reading From the registry' is it defaulting to

0,0 or something else that might make sense?

Hi Glenn,

Left position is 585 Top position is 135.

Also I forgot to note I am using a widescreen laptop (with a screen resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixelation) and trying to display the net display on monitor 1 for dem purposes. But I can't see why this would effect the net display settings when the registry is capturing the information.

Cheers,

This is likely caused by security permissions on the registry. If you're logged in as a non-Adminsitrator user, you will not have the ability to write to the RMS registry keys, which is why your display settings are not being saved.

First option is to log in as an Administrator and make the changes you want, that way they will be set for all of the users. This is a good thing in scenarios where you do not want users modifying things such as the display and connection settings.

Second option is to use regedit and modify the permissions of HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Retail Management Systems\Store Operations so that your Limited User accounts have Full Control.

Did you install Service Pack? One of the Hot Fix (build 1.2.0164), or SP are fix this problem.
