New version of RMS

I received a call from Microsoft yesterday wanting me to go ahead and extend my support for RMS which still isn't due for a couple of months and that makes me really angry that they are so fast to want my support extended. It's a little hard for me to consider extending my support with Microsoft when I have yet to receive an upgrade to RMS for yet another year and at this point I have had this version installed so long I no longer have had a need to make a support call for over a year. I have no idea if I will see a new release even in the next year because apparently it is some great secret as to if we will ever see another release of this product and if so when that will be. Maybe they have been to busy with the release of the new POS product for one store operations to work on RMS. I don't know what it is but I went with Microsoft so that I would eventually have tightly integrated software. I now am beginning to feel like an idiot for believing in Microsoft.

Version 1.3 will be released in Q4 according to M$

root,

Remember that M$ almost always quotes Fiscal Year, not Calendar Year. They just started Q1 FY July 1st and the slide I saw last month said Q2 FY 2006 for 1.3.

When we renewed, we were told a tentative date for 1.3 was Q4 of 2004 or at the latest Q1 2005. That information was pertinent for our renewal as that is our only benefit from the Service Plan. Here a year has gone by and and nothing. Maybe they just needed our cash. I 'm sure a renewal notice will be arriving via e-mail/mail and phone shortly. Gonna be a tough decision/gamble.

I'm so used to the previllege of calling an 800 number, and the support guy got on the phone promptly to solve my problem or sent me a new printer and called back the old one after the replacement. Perhaps HP has spoiled us!....

Getting a quote for $20K of consultation fee to install this software brought me back to the dark ages of customization of twenty years ago. MS got a good software and a very bad marketing approach. Prepacked software should be a "pull" not "push". Some layers of "fat" need to be cut out!...

Well, I bought the RMS without using it for a trial period, because I trusted MS (?) My experience with another POS helped a little, but tag printer incompatibility and the overall implementation process have been frustrating. Obviously, the network of technical support arrangement made quite a few people frustrated as well.

Just so you know, some of the tech guys are great, not based in India, if you can get acess to them!....

Wait and see, if you have exist> I received a call from Microsoft yesterday wanting me to go ahead and extend
