Non3rd Party: Multiple Taxes (i.e. 2 Diff States)

I posted this a few days ago, and had some great response, however, I am looking for a non 3rd party solution to this issue. Does anyone have any ideas?

RMS V1.3flat

I am trying to establish two different Item tax structures for two different tax authorities, let's say one for MN and one for ND state.

Preface: I am giving this as a real HL example. Assigning taxes on a per customer basis will not work as a solution to this issue. Please do not take it literally that I need to assign per customer based on Billing or Shipping State.

Example: MN Tax has: MN State, MN City and MN County ND Tax has: ND State and ND County

I have created all tax authorities in Sales Tax, and then bundled appropriately in Item Tax (one item tax = MN State (3parts), other = ND State (2parts)). I have closed SO Mgr, Zed SO POS, Closed SO POS and reopened.

Here is my issue: I have assigned MN State tax to all skus via wizard, I do not have it checked to assign on all skus in SO Mgr Config. I have entered a taxable line item for sale, it comes back with MN tax assigned. I want this item to be ND State taxed. I click Taxes, uncheck MN, leaving ND checked (see their tax rate on screen), click OK to accept, tax now = 0.00.

Thank you,

Jeff, I have had one heck of a time replying to this post.

  1. Thank you for your response. I was hoping I would hear from you.
  2. What I call 1.3flat is very generic. It is actually 1.3.0203 (no hotfixes, not Refresh), but what I call it to myself is in need of an upgrade.
  3. The reason why Ship to State will not work for me is because this is actually related to County tax authorities. Because the Counties are not bound by zip codes, not even the taxes by customer zip will work (zip would have both counties).
  4. The whole thing is too bad. I can see where I would like it to function, but it just isn't.
