POS 2.0 Payment processing features disabled

Dec 14, 2008 2 Replies

After doing an automatic update on my Windows XP SP3 POS computer, I recieved the following error on loggin into Microsoft POS 2.0.

An error has occurred when reading payment processor information from database. All payment processing features will be disabled in Point of Sale.

And sure enough the credit card processing on the POS computer stoped working. I immediatly rolled back the updates but that did not resolve the problem. At that point I went into look under Settings->Store Settings->Options on the Payment tab and the entire Payment processing section is disabled. Once I viewed this information I no longer get the above error when I log into POS 2.0. However when ever I try to process a Credit Card payment I get the following error.

This payment method is set up to use payment processing, but Point of Sale has not been configured to use a payment processing service.

I found and installed Microsoft POS 2.0 Service Pack 1 & 2 and Hotfix #1, but that still has not resolved the problem.

Anyone know how I can get the payment processing working again on this computer?

give microsoft a call. they might charge you, unless you have free support calls left. I believe free support was provided for a year when you buy the software.

Check your directory structure --

Under Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics - Point of Sale\Addins you should find the stuff below. My understanding is that POS goes through these directories on startup, and gives you the error you see if it can't find them.
