POS option: Allow double discounts

Sale prices: If I put items on sale and a customer has a discount on their account, the customer gets both the sale price and their discount. How do I make it so the sale price is the only discount?

Example: Set 15100 Football to an active sale price of $7.99. Set Dianne Tilbot to 10% off under Options. Sell Dianne the Football and it comes up as $7.19 (10% off the sale price)

POS should not allow double discounts. If you have selected Minimum as your Price Calculation setting, the sale price of $7.99 should apply. 10% off should apply to the regular price, not the sale price.

This effectively prohibits offering selected customers a set discount percent, such as "Club Members get 10% off".

There needs to be a POS option setting called "_Allow double discounts" with the default being unchecked.

i don't think RMS is capable of doing this. I'm looking to do the same thing. I also don't think anyone else will reply to this response because i've posted twice on discounts and never gotten any response although i'm a customersource member. i've been looking into other add-on solutions to rms that will allow discounts like these but have not found any yet that can do this...but it seems like there has to be one out there with all of the RMS users in the world.

Retail Realm has something very interesting but says it won't work if you use HQ, so...

here's what i think our issue is: So far there is no way to offer discounts only to members on a per-item basis. Either an item is discounted for everyone, or if you bring up a member in a transaction, their discount is applied to all items in the transaction. Still, discounting by item & membership combined still seems like a reasonable retail solution and I'd like to look into other possible solutions

**if there's anybody out there that can give my company the ability to give discounts like these then i'm sold! please just let me know what we need to do.

Just mark the option for discounts at POS not allowed. That way the sale price will take affect, but the customer discount won't. Alrady a feature for this!

i know about this checkbox but it doesn't suit our discounting needs. we have mix and match discounts that all customers should get but we don't want to double discount them--if i check this box then the mix and match discount is nullified. i suppose the check box would work if the item was on sale though as in the first posting--i didn't see the distinction at the time. but yeah, even with this option we can't do the types of discounts we like. I think RMS has lots of sale options and discounting features, and I'm completely willing to look into add-ons or customizations, i just never get feedback on these subjects here....
