Printing Labels on Sato CL408

We are in the process of migrating from our existing proprietary POS and Inventory system to RMS. Part of the migration involves migrating the label printing function for our existing Sato CL408 label printers. I have done this successfully except for one detail.

The labels are small labels (1 in. by 1.5 in) that are printed side-by-side. To get the second side-by-side label to print, I have to "fool" the label designer wizard into thinking it is printing to a label 3.5 inches wide. The data on the left side is duplicated on the right side, resulting in two labels being printed, each on a physical label that is 1 in. by 1.5 in. Any other approach results in printing on only one column of labels, wasting the other column.

The real question: The existing label program did some simple math so the user could specify the number of labels desired, and the program would automatically print just half that number, yielding the exact number requested (plus 1 if an odd number had been specified). Does anyone know how this can be accomplished using the RMS Label Wizard? Right now, it is necessary to do the division in your head to print the desired number. My concern is that once we "Turn it on" in the stores the stock people won't do the math correctly (believe me, voice of experience here.) We need the system to do this math for the user.

Thanks

Have you changed the number of columns in the label designer to 2?

This works for me

Michael;

That solved my problem!

The label designer help screen was a bit vague about rows and columns. I thought they were referring to the rows and columns of text on the label itself. Once you clued me into the fact they refer to the number of labels on the page, I got everything working.

Thanks
