Printing labels from HQ

Why can't we print labels from HQ? Its simple..... some companies manage products and inventory form the warehouse and "push" the product to the retail locations. It makes no sense to manage label printing from the store level for our business model.

Can it be done?

The concept is that a warehouse will be a store. HQ in RMS is a centralised management control system not a physical location. To manage the physical location you need a store license. So we always install HQ and a store where the warehouse is included.

I don't have HQ, but if it's supposed to be a "centralized management control system" printing labels for all the stores it manages would most definitely be a part of centralized management. Also, I would be willing to bet that 100% of HQ owners would consider it to be a physical location. Where else would it be, in limbo maybe? I am a big supporter of RMS, I believe it's the premier POS system in it's price range. But if I had multiple stores I probably would consider another program after reading on this NG of all the problems associated with HQ. Which is sad when you consider MS has stated multiple store operations is their targeted customer base. Not being able to do something as mundane as printing labels for your products is ludicrous. We are Microsoft RMS Reseller. We sell label printing product, that exactly designed for this purpose. Here's how it works Label utility monitors the RMS database for price changes and new items, when they occur, it keeps track of them. All you do is either schedule the software to automatically print labels when changes occur or go into the program and view the list, and print them yourself. It's that simple. This software works great with RMS Store Operations and it almost a necessity with RMS Headquarters! Currently with RMS, you change a price via HQ for your of your stores, and then you send a file to those stores via email notifying them of these changes. When the manager of that store gets this list, he/she has to find each one of these in the database and print a new label. To top it off, the labels need to get printed and be on the shelf before the store opens to ensure the tagged price is the correct price! Even if all these precautions are taken, the process is still prone to errors. Once Label utility is setup, this process is 100% automated.

I am looking for this....

  1. At warehouse location we receive brand new inventory (not already in our system) By the way, this is a weekly occurance for our company!!!

  1. Place items on a "production line" to be priced and sorted for X retail store locations.

  2. Items are pulled from production line one-by-one and entered into HQ Here is the **HUGE HOLE** for us... At this step, we need a label button on the item screen in HQ to print a label / labels "on the fly" for the items.

  1. Items are sorted onto different pallets for different store locations

  2. Items delivered to stores and put on shelves

  1. Items sell
