questions about barcode

Dear all I want to know more about barcode in POS system. Is the barcode only contain a unique code of the products? What does the unique code like?(give me a example please) Is the barcode used as a primary key of products' table? If yes, what type and length of the barcode field should i use in the database?

It can be a EAN 13, EAN8 , CODE128 or any unique identifier that pertains to the item

Yes. But in RMS is refer as Itemlookupcode in ITEM table.

Hi About barcodes I think the answers are clear ad correct. What about database. If you own one , you can user EMS SQL Server manager software to see what's going on in your database... you can download the 30 day trial version from
