RMS Accouting Solution?

We are getting ready to implement RMS solution in a one store one lane retail environment, with possibly adding a second store with one lane later down the road. It looks like Quickbooks Pro 2006 is the best solution to intergrate with RMS for accouting and payroll. Is this so, or are there any other good solutions? Should we expect any signficant hurrdles with the intergration? Thanks Mark Garcia

I haven't tried it yet myself, so this is just hearsay, but from previous posts it appears that Intuit has changed QB 2006 in a way that disables the RMS integration. If this is the case, you would be limited to the old Quickbooks file type integration - export a file from RMS, then import it into Quickbooks as two separate operations.

Quickbooks Pro 2003 - 2005 all worked fine for the US version of Quickbooks. I haven't heard any news from MS on what they intend to do for QB 2006.

Since there is now an integration for MS Small Business Accounting (part of the MS Office family), I would kind of expect that to become the 'premier' integration for Store Ops, but that's just a guess at this point.

hmm, O.K i thought I had read a few posts back that someone was using Quickbooks 2006 without any problems? Perhaps I was mistaken.

I'm currently using MS Small Business Accouting for my business, and I really like it compared to Quickbooks, but it has a really poor internal payroll solution (Excel spreadsheet if I remember right).

Thanks for your advice Glenn, I would appreciate anyone else's as well. Mark

Like I said, I haven't tried 2006 myself yet - maybe I have been misreading the posts...

Mark,

Quickbooks is good for a single store. Microsoft Small Business Accounting is better for a single store environment. Microsoft Small Business Financials is what you should consider if you are going to have HQ with 2 stores.

Does SBF have integration with HQ? What is it actually doing different vs. QB?

As far as I know, the only thing that will integrate with HQ is Great plains Standard or Pro.

Another option is to VPN the two locations and run them off the same server. It will be like running one store at two physical locations though.

I use Quickbooks Pro 2006 and integrate with it just fine. Just recently upgraded from 2005.
