Hi Todd,

I understand that Service Pack 3 for Windows XP has similar issues with RMS and that Microsoft is installing "filtering" to prevent XP users who run RMS from automatically getting the service pack before these issues have been resolved.

Since RMS doesn't use Microsoft Update for patches and service packs, could you elaborate a little on how this filtering will work? Will it detect only the "licensed" POS systems and not detect computers that have Store Operations Manager and HQ Manager (which don't require a license) installed?

thanks, randy

I upgraded my manager station to Vista spa before this recommendation came out, but haven't noticed any adverse issues crop up. I don't have the upgrade on my POS station though, so it seems as if it's OK to upgrade the machine you only run manager on. I wouldn't try it without testing first. Craig

Just reading that article it looks like Windows Update will recognize RMS and will filter out the option of XP SP3 from available downloads.. just speculation of course.

Todd, Should I uninstall SP1 on my manager machine, or since I haven't had any issues, should I leave it alone? Craig

Hi Todd,

Thanks for the reply. I have one out of town store that is running automatic updates and I've set that one to download/notify. All the rest are running Small Business Server and WSUS, so I can keep an eye out for what's being updated, just in case.

Please let me know what you find out about how the filtering works. Just curious *grin*.

thanks, randy

Hi Todd,

Thanks for the update. Hope ya'll get everything working together soon!

later, randy

after you install Windows Vista SP1: " You are unable to process Headquarters worksheets. You are unable to create a supplier with associated items. You are unable to create associations with Matrix, Lot Matrix, and Assembly items. The application may crash when you try to create Lot Matrix items. The application may crash when you try to create a customer who has one or more shipping addresses. You are unable to add a quantity discount to an item. As soon as we have additional information available it will be posted."

Please Note that beside above issues I am face some other issue which I already discuse with you on phone the following

I am unable to process Matrix Physical Inventory . I am unable to create a Purchsse order when I want to add matrix items. Also unable to create Or setfilter items in Inventory wizerd.

Another important issue which is relatted to QuickBooks 2008, when i installed the SP1 On vista , Iwas able to configure & retrieve compny file to Post Closed Batches but when I uninstall the SP1 QuickBooks Stop work. please resolve this issue too. Thanks

Todd,

Will this fix be included in the Automatic Updates either With Windows XP or Windows Vista?

Also will Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista SP1 be enabled for Automatic Updates again? I know these Service Packs were removed from the Automatic Update process until this issue was resolved.

Thanks for the information.
