scanning/barcode question

can someone give me step by step instructions to install a symbol LS-2208 serial scanner? it seems like it's reading the barcode, however it won't put the information (item) up on the transaction list. I am trying to read

13 digit barcodes that will be created on a "stand alone" scale. The format of this code is as follows:

0209913 715999

The 09913 represents the PLU and 1599 represents the price ($15.99).

Also, does anyone know what that particular barcode format is called?

Test the scan in Notepad then compare that to your format.

A serial scanner will not automatically be converted to keyboard input. You may want to check the Symbol website to see if they have some sort of conversion driver that you can use (I doubt it). Otherwise, you will have to interface to the scanner using an OPOS driver (which can be downloaded from Symbol). This implies that your Point of Sale system must support OPOS barcode scanners and not just the typical keyboard wedge barcode scanners. You will want to check the device configuration capabilities of the POS system to see if it allows you to setup an OPOS scanner before installing any extra drivers.

Zoo, you need to make sure you have enabled RANDOM UPC and have correctly set-up the item in RMS.

You should have a bunch of barcodes in the book that comes with the scanner. You need to scan - Set to Defaults and then find the interface for your type
