Help - (barcode question)

I am a newbie to RMS

I am trying to get my scanner to read a pre-weighed bar-code created from a stand-alone digi scale. The format is as follows:

0 203327 700695 (03327 = plu & 069 = price 69 cents) My scanners will read other barcodes in different formats (soda, dogfood etc.) and populates the item into the current transaction. The scanner also reads the above code (without the zero) 203327700795 but doesn't populayte the item into the transaction.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated as we are slated to open tomorrow!

How to use Random Weight (Price Embedded) EAN/UPC Barcodes in Store Operations?

Resolution

  1. Price-Embedded (commonly called Random Weight) Barcodes are enabled from the Manager in the configuration section. There are two options, 'Use Random Weight UPC' and 'Utilize Random Weight EAN'. You need to decide which format will be used and select one.

  1. Create an Item (standard type) and place the Per Unit Cost (per kilo, gram, pound. ounces) and the Per Unit Price in the Cost and Price fields respectively.

  2. When an Item is scanned or entered and its Item Lookup Code meets the specified format, Store Operations will automatically compute the Weight based on the Price embedded in the Label and the Item Price (Per Unit Price) in the database.

The definition of the two formats are:

Random Weight UPCs allow for 12 digits, 4 of which consist of the Price (Items up to $99.99).

Format: 2xxxxxayyyyc

where

2 = Random Weight UPC Code Indicator x = Item Lookup Code Prefix. The Item Lookup Code is this prefix, followed by 00000 (actual Lookup Code = 2xxxxx00000) a = Secondary Check Digit y = Price of Item / 100 c = Check Digit (ignored, may or may not exist)

The entire code has 11 characters.

Example:

  1. Set up an Item with an Item Lookup Code of 25772600000. Generally, the UPC Barcode Format is used for these Items.

  1. Print a Label with the Code 25772601256 (according to the format, this should be a .56 Item).

  2. When Item Lookup Code 25772601256 is scanned at the POS, the Item
25772600000 will appear and a Price of $12.56 will be automatically entered on the screen.

Random Weight UPCs allow for 13 digits, 5 of which consist of the price (Items up to $999.99).

Format: 20xxxxxyyyyyc or 02xxxxxyyyyyc

where

20 or 02 = Random Weight UPC Code Indicator x = Item Lookup Code Prefix. The Item Lookup Code includes this prefix, followed by 00000 (actual Lookup Code = 2xxxxx00000 or 02xxxxx00000) y = Price of Item / 100 c = Check Digit (ignored, may or may not exist)

The entire code has 13 characters.

Example:

  1. Set up an Item with an Item Lookup Code of 2057720000000. Generally, the EAN 13 Barcode Format is used for these Items.

  1. Print a Label with the Code 2057720112568 (according to the format, this should be a 2.56 Item).

  2. When Item Lookup Code 2057720112568 is scanned at the POS, the Item
205772000000 will appear and a Price of $112.56 will be automatically entered > I am a newbie to RMS
