You could use the sub descriptions or set them as Matrix items with different years and seasons. Depends on exactly what you want to view when you ring them up.
I will follow this thread with interest as I spent many years in apparel retail and manufacturing. I'll be most interested in how you would get a reportk, by season, as I would guess you'll want to address inventory aging this way. I haven't been able to find a way that RMS reports specifically on when inventory is added (though I haven't used the Purchase Order function, and it may be there). At least in my wine business I have a vintage year as part of the item description.
Harry,
Have you looked at the Auto-Restock add-on from New West Technologies?
That's advanced alright:)
Just a word of caution - you said that you had added a column on Item - if you actually mean that you have ALTERED the RMS Item table, you may want to revise your code. If future upgrades from MS require schema changes, your changes may ( almost certainly will ) be dropped by the update. You should instead create a new table that joins to Item on Item.ID. Tables that are ADDED will be retained by updates
This would actually be a pretty good place to use the custom text or number fields built into the Item table. Maybe you are already using them for other purposes?
