Server 2003 Setup (what services needed)

Feb 27, 2006 5 Replies

We recently had Positive Technology, Setup up our domain and install RMS 1.3 We are having a database connectivity problem on Registers 1,2,3. Many errors in the Event viewer. One error said to Make sure MS-DTC is running. I chaecked the server MS-dtc is not installed and of course not configured for Network Transactions

What are all the "Default OFF" services for Server 2003 sp1 that need to be turned on and configured. So that RMS will run correctly in a Domain Client Network 1 location.

PROBLEM SOLVED ... FOR NOW...

We were told by Positive Technology MS-DTC does not have to running on the server for RMS 1.3. Our Database Connection Error 2147467259 issue was because the Power management setting on the Network Interface Card (NIC) was set to "Allow computer to turn off to save power". Errors seems to have stopped with the NIC's on all clients and Server set to not allow power down, and restart clients and server........... 4 hours no errors.

Well that was not it, setting the NIC's to not powerdown only REDUCED did not eliminate the problem. We are down to 1 or 2 episodes per day. Trying a another fix now, will post a update when this error is resolved. Positive Tech has added the server ip to hosts file on the POS lanes only.

Well no one has answered this question. I wonder why? Anybody out there want the answer. I figured it myself. I see many people that could benefit from the answer we figured out. We can help with anyone having problems with pole displays, credit cards debit cards or attached devices.

if your debit card or pole display freezes write me and I will tell you what we had to figure out ourselves.

could just post it here for all to see..
