Installing QB Pro 2001 multiuser on Windows Server 2003?

I'm trying to install quickbooks pro 2001 multiuser on a windows 2003 sbs server. It wouldn't install at all - the installer said we had an upgrade version of quickbooks, however there is nothing on our CDs indicating anything about an upgrade.

I did manage to install a single-user copy of quickbooks pro 2001 that we have, but it kept complaining that there were known incompatibilities and I should see

for details. That website said the MS java virtual machine is no longer available. I do have the latest Sun JVM installed, 1.5 I believe.

The installer also complained that IE 5.5 must be installed and the program would not install without it. However I do have IE 6 sp1.

The single-user version would not run at all, and I'm not sure if it's because of Java or IE. I recognize that this is an older version of QB and we're probably going to upgrade soon, but at this point I just want to get a version up and running on this machine. Is this possible?

TIA.

Thinko! I meant the installer said Quickbooks would not *run* without IE

5.5. I did get the single user version installed as noted below, though of course it wouldn't run.

TIA!

You may need to download and install the latest version of QB 2001 before IE

6.x will be recognized, and before you're allowed to run the program. You can get the download from here:

If this works, it is the first DETAILED suggestion i have received for doing this process and I've been everywhere. GTG sent me here, specifically. when i get through this process that nobody knows why I suddenly needed to reinstall ME OS and subsequently this program it will be a happy day.. no viruses or weird messages left behind to explain what happened, thank you x a zillion
