Store Credit

From what i have seen here the only way to get RMS to do store credit is with custom programming. There is no built in functionality for giving store credits to all customers or for having the receipt print "Store Credit. Am I correct in my understanding of this?

You can either use vouchers or Customer Accounts to do Store Credit. To use Customer Accounts, you first have to set up an account type. For Vouchers or Customer accounts, you need to create the appropriate Tender Types. Both of these built in features work for store credit situations. The only reason you would need an add-in is if these features do not meet your needs in some way, or if you want to create a more obvious workflow for Store Credit.

How do you set up the vouchers for store credit? My dilemma with store credit is that when a customer uses a partial store credit card, I have no way to print on a receipt that she has X dollars of credit left. I am not keen on asking customer name, etc. just for store credit. So a numbered voucher would work.

Also, can you replace "Sales Receipt" with "Store Credit" as a title for store credit receipt?

Thanks!!

Read the manual about creating a Voucher type Item and a Voucher Tender Type. In terms of using a voucher for store credit, you create your return transaction, and add the Voucher item to it for the balance of the return. This makes the total transaction balance $0, you tender it and just hit enter - you don't give any money back... the receipt will show the voucher number you issued and it's value.

To redeem this, they can just bring back the receipt (or you can give them some other form or Gift Certificate with the voucher ID). You ring up their purchases and enter use the Voucher Tender Type to redeem the item. If they don't redeem the full amout of the voucher, the receipt will again show the remaining balance. If they try to purchase more that the voucher amount, the system will alert you and re change the voucher tender amount to the voucher balance...
