Dear Porplex, I was going through to give you step by step but found that there are some bugs in Physical Inventory Import procedure and that's is the reaosn I have created the ticket for Microsoft with name"Bug in Physical Inventory Import Procedure"

I will get back to you and tell you another way of physical inventory and how you can export and import the qty count sheet in system.

Hi Proplex, Now I can help you out. If you are using handheld make sure you handheld generated a ascii file / csv file. You can generated the text file with Tab,comma and different type of delimation for the field.

The file contain 3 things Item Lookup Code, Qty Count, Count Date (Optional field) The file may or may not contain the field header. Follow rest of the steps

  1. Before Counting Start Go to SO Manager, and Inventory > Physical Inventory Create the new Inventory count sheet (can be exported also) base on any filter criteria it could be by category, department, by supplier, manually, or all
  2. Now start your manual or handheld device count.
  3. Upon finishing you have 2 things to do one either enter the actual count manually or load the data from handheld device (remember the format specified above)

  1. If you are using Import, then click on import file and specify the complete path. there would be more parameter come like the field delimater, Field Mapping, the start point of your inventory import file etc. In the Field Matching enter the Lookupcode=1, Quantity=2,CountDate=3 (Optional)

1 here mean the field address this should be also same in your text file first field. Then click next it will import the all data.

Now this is done if you need GUI step by step send me your email address please rate this.

Sorry mistakenly click on post button.

ONE more thing after import the file you need to press the calcuate button. This will calcuate your variance then press the commit if you are satisifed with the inventory variance to make it effect on your inventory. you can also print your report for more detail.
