physical count inventory

Mar 01, 2007 4 Replies

i am running Rms 1.30. we used the physical inventory in manager to take our inventory. all the counts was entered. we are now experiencing some problems:

  1. two files have the same inventory. this should not be possible because different people were doing the entering.
  2. one file is empty. inventory count was entered into it.
  3. when i try to print from one of the files that has inventory count, i get an error that tells me " invalid count date, in order to continue , items must not have count date that are earlier than physical inventory open time". I don't understand because in physical count inventory my ref number is inv28/02/07, description- end of year stock, opened- 3/1/2007. now i can't print my counted inventory. i am stuck. please help

HI DExter,

With the invalid count date error - I find this happens when you generate a new physical inventory and then begin to enter item counts immediately. I usually have our stores wait a good min or two before entering in the counts.

But, now that you have this error, if you right click on your inv screen, you can add count date to the columns and then set the count time later than the opening time then copy and paste to all rows. This will allow you to commit your inv counts.

vote for it dude!

Hey, let the community know if you have any questions going foward, we are a great resource.... and free.

Great job using the physical inv option, too. I find most people ae making manual adjustments, no trace, slow data entry, etc.

Best of luck to you!

Dexter I too had problems with files transferring or duplicating inventory when two different machines were doing a physical inventory. Did you ever find out why that is happening?
