1099

Hello:

I need to get my 1099 info out to my vendors. Can someone give me instructions on how to do this?

By the way, last year when I followed the instructions from Quickbooks, the page that displays the info was blank.

Run the 1099 report, there a couple of options at the top of report to show all accounts and show all vendors. Have you properly designated your vendors as receiving 1099s? Have you properly expensed those vendors bills to the categories you designated in Preferences? Tell us what you have done so we can point you in the right direction. No way to know what you done at this point from your post.

Well something is not working properly. I am looking at 1099 Detail and Summary for all of 2005 and the page is blank. I went back to look at all my vendors to see if the 1099 choice was selected and it was. I even went into Preferences, Company Preferences, Tax:1099, clicked on the 1099 Vendors verify, went to vendor list, phone list, modify report, changed the columns to eligible for 1099, ok. This did not help seeing the report though. I am not sure what to do even after following the QB directions.

How about the option that says "See all accounts" You may vendors designated as 1099 but not coded the expense to the correct account. QB will only look at the accounts designated in the preferences.

Where is this See All Accounts located?

There is an area at the top of the report window titled 1099 Options with selection boxes that default to:

Only 1099 Vendors, Only 1099 Accounts, Use Thresholds

Try changing the selection box for "Only 1099 Accounts" to "All Allowed Accounts"

If that works then you haven't correctly mapped all of your expense accounts to the 1099 preference. If you're using Items for your subcontract labor double-check which accounts they point to. You can select multiple accounts for 1099 inclusion.

One last note. Assuming my 2005 version isn't unique in this I've discovered a bug that causes the 1099 Summary to not properly refresh. Even if you have your preferences set to auto-refresh and even if you click out & click back in or hit "refresh" I'm finding that the report isn't updating itself. I've had to close the report and re-open to see any changes take effect.
