2005 Problem #2

Apr 08, 2005 5 Replies

I posted last week about the font issue but go no responses. This week, same company file, I added a "-" in front of all the subcontractor names so viewing Vendor reports would be easier as they'd be grouped away from suppliers.

Half of the printed subcontractor checks came out with the hyphen in front of the name while the other half didn't. I double-checked each subcontractor and the hyphen does *not* appear in the Print Check As field so I can't figure out why QB is adding them in.

Any ideas?

I forgot to add the Bill/Credit issue to the previous post. Is it correct that 2005 is back to staying in the Credit screen after recording a credit rather than reverting to the Bill screen? Its happening in this company file even though I didn't have that problem in 2004 and I want to say 2003 as well.

You sure all your subs are listed as vendors? If they are listed as 'other names' the check will be written to what the name is. Also, verify that the 'Print Check As' field is set and populated (filled-in) with what you want to appear on the check.

Yes they're all vendors and none of the Print Check As fields include the hyphen.

Shots in the dark, no idea if they're relevant, but.....

- Is there a space after the hyphen (consistently)?

- Did you consistently use the hyphen (hyphen/underscore key), or the minus (on the number pad)? Although they generally have the same effect, your computer "knows" they are different keys and software CAN respond differently to them.

No spaces. I named all the subcontractor ids as -XYZ, Inc. I used the hyphen on the numeric keypad each time because I'm a klutz with my pinky finger and never use the hyphen above the letter P. Good ideas but still no go. I'm going to remove all the hyphens then re-hyphenate to see if that fixes the problem. If not I'll call Intuit.
