accountant's copy usage methods

Is it possible to name a file a different name when in the process of using an accountant's copy provided for the person processing the bookkeeping for the client or would this cause a problem when sending a diskette of an accountant's changes file back to the client when finished? For example, the client mails a hired bookkeeper a file named filename.qbx and it is subsequently loaded into quickbooks by the bookkeeper making changes but named at the the point of loading it as filenamenew.qba. Would this be wrong in that the bookkeeper would create an accountant's changes file and name it as filename.aif(f) and somehow cause an error situation for the quickbooks software on the client's end when he then attempts to incorporate the accountant's changes in his company's bookkeeping file (i.e., the original filename file on his computer)?

Thanks for your help.
