Quicken for Home and Business will do it if you don't have inventory. If you have inventory, Mickeysoft Money for Home & Business, but back up your files often. Sometimes you can find an earlier version at a lower price. Shouldn't matter if you don't do payroll. IMHO, most of the bells and whistles of the updates and upgrades are not necessary, anyhow, at least for a small business. Eventually, you will probably end up with QuickBooks and that is something to think about now because some of the data from the cheap programs and files cannot be imported into the more expensive accounting packages later on. It's a big job to switch and manually enter everything. I know from experience. If you can find any way financially to buy QB now, you'll be a lot better off a couple of years from now.

Cash flow.

You need cash to run a small business.

Without even enough cash to pay for accounting software, I would suggest you quit while you are ahead.

Down load Microsoft Office Accounting 2007 Express. It is free. Now get out of here. Go like a bunny.

There's always pencil and paper. They're pretty cheap.

Yeah... but it's the High Cost of Erasers that is an issue and makes this method not so good in the long run... (:

Hi GS,

Did you know that QuickBooks offers a free version? If you cannot afford an accounting program anymore, you might want to try the free version of Simple Start:

Give me a break, a total of 20 customers and vendors combined. Can you say useless? Not to worry even if there were no limitations, Simple Start sucks big time.

Just be aware that SS does not allow you to enter a bill and pay it later. So if you need to track your payables in the system then SS is not going to work for you.
