Can you save your customers' Credit card info in quickbooks and bill them for a different amount each month?

Dear friends;

I'm about to buy quickbooks because we want one solution for our small business. Here is what we need to happen:

We run a small tutoring business. Clients sign up and typically stay with us for 2 to 4 months. We currently send out invoices every two weeks and often have to chase folks down to get paid.

We'd like to just get their credit card info when the sign up and be able to run the payment through on their credit card as needed. IS THIS SOMETHING QUICKBOOKS CAN DO?

Note that it is not a "recurring payment" that is always the same. My question is whether or not we can set up customer accounts that also include credit card info that we can use to charge the customer's accounts when necessary.

Any assistance is appreciated. Also, if anyone has experience in this area, and could help us get set up quickly, we might be interested in hiring you.

Thanks

Phil

You can easily do this using QB's merchant services.

Just to clarify-- you are saying we can store credit card info as part of a customers record and charge them using that whenever we need to?

Are you certain?

He is saying yes. As per the CC master agreement you can't and it won't store the CCV code, but it will store card number and exp.

You probably should have your customers sign something that says you can store their number, but QB will store it. Using Merchant Services is very easy, once you set it up with them. I'm not sure how competitive their rates are, so you may want to check that carefully.

I think you should re-think your business model. As a customer, I do not feel comfortable in supplying a credit card number, if you say you are going to invoice me for payment. And I would not like you to just bill my credit card if you feel payment is late -- what if I had already mailed a check?

If you get customers to agree to weekly or bi-weekly credit card bill>

BTW, does QB Merchant Services support CC transactions without CCV code?

Yes. The CCV code is optional. BUT...it will check that the address & zip code you entered matches the information associated with that credit card. If you have one of those pieces incorrect then the charge won't go through.

Wrong, charge will go through, but it might take longer to settle and you will pay a higher rate.

That is interesting. I had a cc charge get denied because the zip code was wrong. No option to allow it to process with the incorrect information.

I have address and zip code conflicts all the time and never a delay or declined card because of it.
