Changing transactions already filed for VAT

I just realised that I erroneously set up an expense account as VAT Exempt (should be standard). I want to change the transactions so I can reclaim the VAT, but Quickbooks (2004) won't let me - "The VAT on this transaction is already filed - You cannot modify or delete this transaction".

Can anyone suggest a workaround?

Do a journal entry for the correct VAT amount to the appropriate accounts. It should then show up correctly in the VAT100 report.

Only on QBPro2002 here but you should still find "Adjusting your VAT Liability" under help.
