Consolidations or divisions

Is it possible to do consolidations of seperate companies in QB? And if not, does anyone deal with seperate corporate divisions within one company? Hows the best way to make that work?

Thanks Todd

The Enterprise Solutions version has a built in consolidation feature. For Pro and Premier you will need third party program. Some are listed on the Intuit Market place site at

For corporate divisions within one company you can use Classes for PL accounts but you need to use separate accounts for balance sheet accounts.

Another solution is to have consistant COA that would allow you to quickly consolidate the financial reports using excel. Export the separate reports and set up a template reporting process that adds the individual FS into a total page. This is a lot cheaper than upgrading to Enterprise as it will work with any version of QB.

Assuming its possible to do through quickbooks (or whatever accounting program), I find it a) easier b) less prone to error and c) faster then using excel. But its always an option.

Thanks

True but the cost of upgrading to Enterprise might not be worth it for just this feature.

We have a progam that transfers data from multiple QB company files into a single "Consolidating" QB file where each company is automatically setup as a separate class. The companies don't have have the same charts of accounts. See the Report Combiner at
