Editing Webconnect files or reducing manual intervention in importing bank transactions

Does anyone know if a webconnect file can be edited before importing the banking transactions into QuickBooks? I have a huge number of FedEx transactions in my file. Because they are only slightly different in name (because the name includes the transaction date) I need to create an Alias for almost every one of them. It would seem easier if I could edit the WebConnect file in a spreadsheet format for instance, and copy the same name "Fedex" for example into all the Fedex transactions so that they would all come in not needing an alias. I would love to do the same sort of thing to add classes to my incoming transactions. Any advice? Perhaps there are ways to do this without actually editing the file?

Hi, Im not sure whats stopping you editing the file ? I suspect if you tried this it would import fine, since QuickBooks has no idea that the transaction name has been edited.

If you need a custom bit of software to automate these changes for you, drop me a line with an example WebConnect file. I sure we could work something out (albeit for a small fee :-)

Thanks for the kick in the head. I should have looked at the files, they are indeed simply ASCII. I was assuming they were in some proprietary format. Thanks for the reality check.
