importing/editing inventory items/defining columns within item win

Is there a way for me to import old inventory lists generated in a spreadsheet, and make them into new items within my database in RMS small business manager?? i have a spreadsheet of over two thousand items, and I would not like to have to manually input them, instead I would like to assign a colum to a specific cell in the item window. I also would like to be able to edit large groups of items with one action, for example editing a supplier name for multple entries.

Also, I am trying to define which columns I can see when I search for an Item, I want to be able to see the item number, description, and extended description for each item within RMS store operations manager.

I also would like to be able

That aspect can be achieved by opening the supplier tab under Database in Manager. If you change it there, RMS updates all the items with that supplier to reflect the change. You can also edit or change some things using inventory wizard.

You can import Items, Supplier, Aliases and other tables using the Import Tool, contact your RMS Reseller. Alternatively you can purchase the EMS MS SQL tool for $39 US, it allows you to do Updates as well as Insert new items. BE WARNED making mass changes to the database can have some undesirable results if not done correctly. ALWAYS perform a backup before proceeding.

The result area of the Find window is NOT customizable. Again your RMS Reseller should be able to create a Custom POS/HTML solution that would allow you to search your db and have the fields you want returned.

Hi there,

Agreed that you can make a Search Screen for the POS that shows all fields, but in Store Operations and Head Quarters, items are only descripted by 30 characters. This means that in general you need to use soem sort of truncation rule in your business so that referencing items is made quicker and easier. That is an issue in itself as you are now requiring staff to make the truncation rule and this ALWAYS becomes unreliable and duplicates get created.

By far (And the least amount of programing) is for all forms associated to item in both HQ and SO should have an option to show the other fields. EXtended, Sub 1,2,3 Unit of Measure .... all common sense....
