GHOST Item within RMS 1.3

Hi All,

I am new to this newsgroup. Your insights will be appreciated.

We currently have 3 registers and one server runing RMS 1.3. we also export the database to external machine which has a 3rd party application which is the middleware. The middleware acts as the interface to the webserver and uploads the data to the web server. When I pull the inventory from the RMS into Middleware application, i see items that are NOT even in the RMS.

Within RMS, i have checked the inactive items as well and the item is just no where to be found. The item being shown is really a duplicate item with different SKU in this middleware.

For example: In RMS Cavit Pinot Grigio 750 with SKU 1122334455

In Middleware: Cavit Pinot Grigio 750 with SKU 1122334455 Cavit Pinot Grigio 750 with SKU CAVIT

I have duplicate item in the middleware. Perhaps, the RMS has a DELETED item but you can not view it within RMS.

Any suggestions on how to clean up the RMS database will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Anup

hi,

how you export data from RMS ? is it a straight forward way..directly from RMS or thru your middleware..

coz if you're trying to search from item table (RMS) directly if a duplicate item is not there then there something wrong with importing it to webserver..

if you still insists of RMS data problem..you can try reindexing the database then rerun your exporting process.

It sounds like the RMS database is OK. The 'problem' is apparently with the middleware--not with RMS. If no ILC 'CAVIT' exists in RMS, then the RMS data is OK.

Let's say that at one time a duplicate SKU was created in RMS. If you use the Merge Items process from the CustomerSource KB article, you would merge the sales history of the two items then delete the unwanted item.

Would the middleware then delete the old SKU? I'm thinking not.

Cleaning up the RMS database is not the solution. You need to clean up the middleware database.

Everybody knows I have my fair share of complaints with RMS, but in this case I believe your complaint is with the middleware.

Thank you!! I will look into this have a conversation with the guys who wrote this middleware.

Actually to answer GregDxB's question, middleware automatically pulls the inventory from RMS.
