What you are asking for doesn't exist. 99.9999% of people are smart enough to turn off the receipt function of their e-mail program so even if you find a way to request it, it won't come. If all you need is a record you sent it, cc yourself. If you need a real receipt, then send it certified snail mail, return receipt requested.

There is a product called Msgtag that "claims" that it can track your messages.

You will need to convert or print your invoice to pdf and use your e-mail program (outlook) to send the messages. I have a friend who uses it for his clients and he claims it works. I don't know if it works when sending to a webmail address such as hotmail, yahoo, AOL, etc. but it might be worth testing it out.

Upgrade. Unlike QB 2006 version 2008 uses Outlook.

You can use the third party, web based software like InLattice

to send invoices to your customers, with a click of a mouse. When customer opens/prints the invoice, the status gets changed to Viewed. You can also look at the history of the document to know the exact date and time the invoice was opened.

InLattice can also be used to send the same invoices to factoring companies, collection agencies.

You can use the InLattice Vendor Portal to provide the same feature to your vendors!! Vendor invoices can be approved online and posted to QuickBooks. Any discrepencies can be resolved online. Vendors know when the invoice status at any time.
