entering invoices

I find that when entering invoices, the QB system is extremely slow when moving from the "customer job" field to the "class field" . I need to wait

20-30 seconds to get to theclass field for every invoice. Thiscauses a lot of time wasting when I am doing a run of 1500 invoices.

does anyone have any ideas??

thx, Sharon

Well, I, for one, am a little curious about the size of your data file, location etc. How often do you do a run of 1500 invoices? What version of QB do you have. Are you doing this in multi-user mode? Is the file on a network share? Do a CTRL-1 and provide us with a little more information.

thanks

Gary

If the OP posts 1,500 invoices at a clip he certainly choose the wrong software.

Let's see -

1500 invoices in one run at 20-30 seconds each (JUST to move from "Customer" to "Class"!!!) probably means about 10-15 hours total. He should be OK if he doesn't do more than 2 invoice runs daily. Allan, you're UNDER-rating QuickBooks again!

Divided by 10 clerks working simultaneously, thats only 3 hours if 2 runs are made daily. Not even a full day's work.

I find that the system goes extremely slow when entering invoices and there are many users logged in. Best bet try doing invoices when everyone else logged out and see if that is the key. Of course this is if you have mulitple users.

10 clerks - Enterprise edition, of course (unfortunately it's no longer available in Canada). J&R suggests they work 10pm to 6am for real efficiency. Apparently OP doesn't really have a problem, just a misperception. Unless, of course, he/she didn't accurately describe the issue.

  1. Lighten up. A little humour can be helpful.

  1. If OP really enters 1500 invoices at a time, QB is probably NOT the correct software - as Allan helpfully noted. That's probably better advice than yours.

  2. It can be difficult to offer really useful advice without knowing the real problem. Some of the remarks in the thread may have been intended to (humorously) question whether OP accurately described the problem.
