It's a long story but I'm trying to recover a set of Quickbook company files from a disk that was reformatted. The files themselves have been recovered but I don't know which of the files I need to make up the company set. Unfortunately the recovered files are not in their original folders but are mixed together with all the other files which were on the disk. I realize that Company.qbw is the primary file but which of the other files are needed so I may do a search for them?

If you have recovered all the .QBW files and can open them, that's all you should need - one file per company.
.QBB are backup copies in proprietary condensed format.
Depending on your version and how you work with your accountant, you may also have archive copy and accountant copy files.

Thank you. The company books are up and running again.
I by mistake deleted a partition on my hard drive a while ago, including my QB user file. I also recovered the user file successfully with recovery software. It's quite amazing, isn't it?
