import XLS ---> iif ---> QB

I am having a hard time importing excel (xls) transaction data into QB premier '06. I have read many a post about importing procedures and the QB help guides.

I have saved the xls. as .iif and .txt fils using tab deliniated seperation.

Each transaction is a line so there are no SPL lines.

I would like to avoid adding rows to insert ENDTRNS after every TRNS a the data arrives large chunks. This is not a one time import, and I know there must be an easy trick to this system I am missing.

The data looks like this would more or less like thsi in an .xls spreadsheet (with all the CAPS having been added). !TRNS TRNSTYPE DOCNUM ACCNT DATE NAME AMOUNT !SPL TRNSTYPE DOCNUM ACCNT DATE NAME AMOUNT !ENDTRNS TRNS GENJRNL 12749 901 1/26/2006 test1 -446400 ENDTRNS TRNS GENJRNL 12748 901 1/26/2006 test4 -14400 ENDTRNS TRNS GENJRNL 12753 901 1/26/2006 test8 -14400 ENDTRNS TRNS GENJRNL 12750 901 1/26/2006 test9 14400 ENDTRNS TRNS GENJRNL 12751 901 1/26/2006 test7 14400 ENDTRNS TRNS GENJRNL 12746 901 1/26/2006 test3 28800 ENDTRNS

Thanks QBers.
