payroll update

I know, it's silly.

What you usually had to do was go through the process like you're going to order the Standard payroll service, but don't enter any credit card information.

However, I just tried to do that with a QB 2006 installation on a company file that got the onetime update last year when it was in version QB 2005 -- and it didn't work for me either. Said the subscription was expired.

So maybe now onetime update means one time forever for a particular EIN.... ? Unless there is a new tricky way to get it.

Each new version purchase should come with a one time tax table download. Even 2006.

Well, do ya know how to get the "free" payroll update?

I have QBPro2006 and it worked for me...one time. I just purchased a new computer and moved QB to it but the one-time didn't work (this would be the second time). I called support and told them that I couldn't get the tax table on my new computer. They said it's called one-time because it's only one time! There is no way that I know of to get my one-time table from my old computer to my new. Neither portable file transfer, nor backup work. I even tried to copy the entire QB program folder to the new machine, which totally screwed things up. I believe in the past, you could call support and they could allow you to download the table again, but apparently no more. This surely sucks. If anyone knows how to move the tax table from one (old) machine to another (new), please post. I have only one copy of QB that I am moving from one machine to another and will probably keep on a backup machine, so I don't have multi-user setup.
